The Cruising Class has Arisen

Oregon Offshore has received its first entry for this year's cruising class. Gil MacGregor or Portland, Oregon, will race his Cascade 36, Child of the Mist.

Most years, Gil crews on Velocity with Tom Keffer, but this year has decided to race his own boat. He has plenty of blue water sailing experience after sailing a 38-foot Choy Lee to Hawai'i, and multiple other trips to Port Angeles.

Send in your cruising class (or PHRF class) entries so Gil can have some competition!

Two Beneteaus from Canada will race

We've received two entries from Vancouver, BC. The first is Kinetic, a Beneteau First 47.7 skippered by David Sutcliffe. She has a PHRF rating of 27. David has sailed this boat in the Sydney Hobart race, as well as racing Vic-Maui in 2006, and then sailing home... totaling 17,000 round trip.

The second is Turnagain, a Beneteau Oceanis 50, rating 99. Travis McGregor will skipper this beautiful boat in the Oregon Offshore for the second year in a row.

Both boats are preparing for the 2014 Vic-Maui race.
