Not Catching Any Breaks in the Strait

The wind gods are certainly fickle on this year's 2016 CYC Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race.

After punishing the fleet with light winds dead on the nose for most of the race up the Washington coast, you'd think the wind angle might change with a 90 degree change in course. Unfortunately, winds at the mouth of the Strait of Juan de Fuca are easterly! Keep those genoas up Kinetic V and Rage; it looks like it's going to be a sloppy beat to the finish.

Fleet Update:

According to the race tracker, some boats seem to suddenly be making great progress directly upwind. No confirmations yet, but we may start to see some retiring boats.
